REmodeling and pLaque Evolution After de novo coronary DCB angioplasty: a Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography study. The PICCOLETO XIII REVEAL-DCB Cohort A study

The PICCOLETO XIII REVEAL-DCB Cohort A is an international, multicenter retrospective study investigating the role of CTCA before and after DCB angioplasty. We aim to evaluate changes in coronary atherosclerotic plaque, vessel dimensions, and lumen characteristics related to drug-coated balloon (DCB)-only angioplasty of de novo coronary lesions. Using coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) performed before and/or within 3–12 months after PCI, the study aims to characterize the vascular and plaque response to DCB treatment and address the limited existing evidence on how plaque burden and composition evolve following a stent-free strategy. By analyzing real-world CCTA, procedural, and clinical data, the study will explore whether changes in the coronary lumen are associated with plaque modification, vessel remodeling, or both. Clinical outcomes, including target lesion failure (TLF) at 12 months, will also be evaluated. The findings are expected to provide new insights into the biological response to DCB angioplasty and help inform future prospective studies using CCTA to guide and assess DCB-based coronary revascularization.

A core lab will analyze all the CTCA and angiographies and the main results are expected by Q1/27
